In today's Arsies Quarterfinal, fairly unmetal Porcupine Tree had the temerity to challenge decidedly brutal Job For A Cowboy.
"Ruination" is heavy and fast and a pummeling of the senses from start to finish. Listen to the album, and it satisfies right away... but oddly enough, an hour later, it's noticeably hard to remember what you'd just been listening to. While "The Incident" can count its moments of heaviness on one hand, it has an incredible and haunting staying power. So a funny thing happened on the way to a decision: Porcupine Tree slipped past JFAC and took the prize.
Tomorrow: Kreator vs God Forbid.
